Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 6, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Aardarch (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use our apps and services (collectively, “the Services”). By using our Services, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
This policy applies to all Aardarch apps. Where app-specific details are noted, they apply only to the named app.
Overview
Aardarch develops utility apps for Android devices. Our apps are designed to function primarily on-device, with limited data transmitted to third-party services for analytics, crash reporting, and feature-specific functionality.
AardFlex is a wallpaper and widget utility app that lets you create and apply custom widgets and live wallpapers. It may retrieve weather data from third-party providers to display within widgets.
Information We Collect
Data You Provide
- App configuration data: Settings, layouts, designs, and other customization preferences you create within our apps.
- Third-party API keys: If you configure a service that requires an API key (e.g., OpenWeather in AardFlex), that key is stored locally on your device and transmitted only to the respective service.
Automatically Collected Data
Our apps use Google Firebase services that automatically collect certain data, including:
- Device identifiers: Firebase installation ID, app instance ID, and Android ID.
- Device and app information: Device model, operating system version, app version, language, and time zone.
- IP address: Collected by Firebase and used to derive approximate (country-level) location. IP addresses are not logged permanently by Firebase Analytics.
- App usage data: Screens viewed, session duration, feature interactions, and general usage patterns.
- Crash and performance data: Crash logs, stack traces, device state at time of crash, and app performance metrics such as network latency and resource usage.
This data is collected through the following Firebase services:
- Firebase Analytics — usage and engagement data.
- Firebase Crashlytics — crash reports and diagnostics.
- Firebase Performance Monitoring — app performance metrics.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging — push notification delivery data.
- Firebase Remote Config — app configuration and feature flags.
- Firebase App Check (Play Integrity) — app attestation to protect backend resources.
Data We Do NOT Collect
Our apps do not collect any of the following:
- Personal information: Name, email address, phone number, or mailing address (unless you contact us directly).
- Location data: Our apps do not request fine or coarse location permissions. Any geographic data (e.g., weather in AardFlex) is based on city names you manually configure.
- Financial information: Credit card numbers, bank accounts, or purchase history.
- Health and fitness data: Our apps do not collect or process any health, fitness, or medical data.
- Contacts, calendar, or call logs.
- Photos, videos, or audio recordings. Some apps may request permission to read media images so you can select images for use within the app, but we do not upload, transmit, or store your images outside your device.
- Messages, emails, or other communications content.
- Sensitive information: Our apps do not collect or process biometric data, racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, or any other categories of sensitive personal information.
Device Permissions
Permissions vary by app. Each app only requests permissions necessary for its functionality:
AardFlex:
- SET_WALLPAPER — Required to apply wallpapers you create to your device home screen or lock screen.
- READ_MEDIA_IMAGES — Required to let you browse and select images from your device for use in widgets and wallpapers. Images you select are processed locally and are not transmitted off your device.
Ephemeral Data Processing
Some data is processed temporarily in memory to perform specific actions and is not persisted or transmitted. This includes rendering previews, processing image selections, and other transient operations. This ephemeral data is not included in the data collection described above.
How Your Data Is Used
We use the collected data for the following purposes:
- App functionality: To provide and operate our apps’ core features.
- Analytics: To understand how our apps are used, identify popular features, and inform product development.
- Crash diagnostics and stability: To identify, diagnose, and fix crashes and performance issues.
- Security and fraud prevention: To protect our apps and backend services through app attestation (Firebase App Check).
- Communications: To deliver push notifications about app updates or important information (if you opt in).
How Your Data Is Stored
- Local data: App configurations, designs, preferences, and any API keys you provide are stored locally on your device using encrypted storage (Android DataStore and Room database).
- Firebase data: Analytics, crash reports, and performance data are stored on Google Firebase servers. This data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
Data Sharing and Disclosure
- Third-party service providers: Analytics, crash, and performance data is processed by Google Firebase in accordance with Google’s Privacy Policy and Firebase’s data processing terms.
- Weather providers (AardFlex): When you use weather-related widgets, the app sends requests to Met.no (Norwegian Meteorological Institute) or OpenWeather to retrieve weather data. These requests include the city name or coordinates you configure but do not include personal identifiers.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal process.
- Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change by updating this policy.
We do not currently sell your personal data. If our data practices change in the future, we will update this policy and provide notice before any such changes take effect. You will have the opportunity to opt out where required by applicable law.
We do not currently serve advertisements in our apps.
